Solo – A Star Wars Story

The funny thing was that the reviews I listened to I found myself disagreeing with on a note-by-note basis. If they disliked one thing,I liked it. If they liked one thing, I disliked it, the end result being that the likes outweighed the dislikes by light years.
Okay okay, so my favorite little granular detail that, no joke, I’ve asked the universe for years, is how Han Solo and Chewbacca actually flew the Millennium Falcon.
No, seriously. Go back and rewatch the original trilogy. IT TOOK FORTY YEARS FOR SOMEONE TO FILM THE YOKE IN THE MILLENIUM FALCON AND ACTUALLY USE IT IN THE PITCH OF BATTLE.
Ever notice that? I always wondered about the controls in that craft. Sure, it’s a minor detail, by growing up as a kid watching AirWolf and the frequent cutaways from Stringfellow Hawk (a Star Wars given/surname if ever there was one) to the stick and related controls always had me questioning just how skilled a pilot Solo was if we never saw his hands on the controls.
Two other things worth noting is that it’s sitting at 70% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.1 on IMDB (as of this writing) and yet I’m still finding articles panning it and calling it a failure.
It was #1 at the box office in it’s opening week for Pete’s sake! I seriously feel like this is the nice guy of movies. No matter what it says or does well, it can’t catch a break.
Go see it. It’s totally worth the price of admission…or MoviePass. Seriously you all need to get MoviePass.
